OUR HISTORY AND MISSION

 

Formed in 2010, Open Range Archaeology, LLC. (ORA) has assembled a skilled team of professional archaeologists and consultants with the mission to provide expert and affordable Archaeological Services & Cultural Resource Management Services. We have successfully completed and permitted over 300 Nationwide Permit and Section 106 related archaeological investigations. Our roots are in the Southwest and Great Plains our company has quickly grown to provide consultation nationwide. Our diversity, efficiency, and expertise allows us to meet the needs of our clients from coast to coast.

 

Our Staff is experienced and knowledgeable. Our Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) certified consultants exceed the Secretary of the Department of Interior’s Standards for the performance of cultural resource investigations. Our staff has over 50 years of combined experience, successfully conducting projects for private clients, as well as tribal, state, and federal agencies. Our Skills and areas of expertise include Native American and Euro-American archaeology, as well as historical and archival research. Together with a network of professional associates in related sciences such as physical anthropology, biological archaeology, zooarchaeology, and geomorphology. ORA possess cutting-edge remote sensing technology, including ground penetrating radar, soil resistance, gradiometry and aerial photogrammetry which allow us to explore for or avoid buried cultural resources. We ensure that the appropriate level of expertise is brought to every project. ORA is qualified in the areas of expertise necessary for completing historic preservation projects including: researching the historic contexts of locations and cultural landscapes, surveying historic resources and completing tasks associated with creating or updating resource inventories. Most importantly, we work to enable positive industry involvement and inter-agency cooperation.

ORA leverages technology and develop innovative approaches for archaeological research. ORA has completed projects within the States of Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Alaska. Including numerous projects associated with roadway expansion and construction, bridge replacements, and infrastructure development programs.
